Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Break free from the past and regain control of your life.

Therapy for PTSD

What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?

PTSD can happen when a distressing experience leaves a lasting negative impact on your mind and body. You might find memories of the event coming back suddenly, feel on edge, or want to avoid certain places or situations. It’s your nervous system’s way of trying to protect you. With the right support, it is very possible to recover and feel safe again.

Common Signs of PTSD

PTSD can involve reliving the trauma through flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories. You might avoid reminders such as certain places or people, and feel constantly on edge, or easily startled. It may also cause strong emotional or physical reactions to triggers.

Therapy for PTSD

How can CBT help with PTSD?

CBT for PTSD helps you understand how the trauma is affecting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours today. Together, we work to gently process painful memories, reduce distressing symptoms, and challenge unhelpful beliefs. You’ll learn coping tools to manage triggers and rebuild a sense of safety, confidence, and control in your life.

What Might Cause PTSD?

Experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, such as an accident or assault. Ongoing exposure to abuse, violence, or neglect. Traumatic loss, such as the sudden death of a loved one. Experiencing or witnessing events in high-stress roles, such as military, emergency, or frontline work.

Impact on Daily Life

Trouble sleeping or relaxing. Feeling detached or disconnected from others. Difficulty concentrating at work or on tasks. Avoiding activities, places, or people you once enjoyed. Strain on relationships and social life.

Common Triggers

Certain sights, sounds, or smells. Anniversaries of the traumatic event. News stories or media coverage. Stressful life changes or challenges. Situations that feel similar to the trauma.

How CBT Helps

Trauma-focused CBT helps you gently confront memories, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and reduce the power of triggers.

Practical Skills

Together we’ll practise grounding, breathing, and thought-challenging techniques to manage flashbacks and anxiety in realtime.

Moving Forward

CBT gives you tools to rebuild trust, regain confidence, and reconnect with life beyond the trauma.

Exceptional level of care and counsel from Pritesh Joshi who has supported me on a year long journey. Unwavering, sincere and professional CBT provided always at mutually agreeable dates and times, never has he let me down or not followed up with any promised support material. I would thoroughly recommend Pritesh for his experience, compassion and results.

Pritesh strikes a valuable balance between validating and gently challenging me to grow. I leave supervision feeling clearer, more resourced and better equipped for the challenges of life as a therapist.

- Lisa F.

I had a wonderful experience with my therapist called Pritesh. He was so kind and listened to me from the minute that I explained why I needed help. I’ve gone through a lot in the last six months, and I truly don’t believe I would’ve been able to do it without his support.

- J.T.

Pritesh created a supportive environment where I could openly address challenges I had previously faced alone. His structured approach, incorporating diverse techniques, enabled me to experience significant progress within just a few weeks.

- G.D. CBT Therapist

Working with Pritesh as my supervisor has been such a positive experience. Pritesh always makes me feel at ease and heard. His depth of knowledge in CBT, combined with his compassionate supervision style, has helped grow my clinical skills.

Why Therapy is an Investment

Therapy isn’t just about the time spent in the session, it’s an investment in your mental health, emotional resilience, and long-term wellbeing. Each session reflects years of specialist training and clinical experience, as well as the time spent outside of sessions designing a personalised treatment plan for your needs. Many people don’t hesitate when spending money on holidays, gym memberships, or dining out, all of which provide mostly only short-term wellbeing. Therapy offers something deeper: a safe, consistent space to understand yourself, work through what’s holding you back, and build lasting change. This investment in yourself is a valuable commitment to living the balanced, fulfilled life, that you wish you live for many years ahead.
